On March 27th, 2023, the Fact Check Gambia conducted an outreach program on Media Literacy at the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute’s (GTHI) School Hall. The program aimed to educate the students on the importance of media literacy and equip them with skills to distinguish between dis-information, misinformation, and mal-information.

The outreach program was facilitated by Omar Saibo Camara and Muhammed Lamin Touray, who took the students through the impacts of mis-disinformation and how to use their phones to verify facts and false news. Additionally, the students were guided on the dangers of Deepfakes, manipulated content, and how to detect them.
The program was a great success, and the students were very receptive to the knowledge shared. The outreach program is a testament to the commitment of the Fact Check Gambia towards educating and empowering the youth with the necessary skills to navigate the ever-evolving media landscape.

In conclusion, the Fact Check Gambia's outreach program on Media Literacy with our students is a step in the right direction towards promoting media literacy in the country. The knowledge shared will go a long way in ensuring that our students are better equipped to make informed decisions and be responsible consumers of media content.
