Tourism Fraternity mourns one of its finest Mr. LucaVershelden
We were all in shock on June 18 2022 when it was announced that Luc passed on after a brief illness.
Luc was the quintessential hotelier who was a Master of his Craft his knowledge of hospitality was unparalleled, well versed in international languages that took around the Globe working in Top 5 Hotels & Resorts from the Gambia to Zanzibar.
Luc nurtured personal relationships and invested heavily in people. He love the Gambia so much and understood & respected our Culture and loved his long term Gambian friends who became his extended Family.
A Well Groomed & Dignified man who had an eye for detail and appreciated Talent in the Hospitality Industry. A Man of many firsts ' General Manager of the Kairaba Beach Hotel, Sunset Beach Hotel, Qcity. He also worked for Gamwater and Fajara Hotel. About 13 years ago whilst I worked for the GTA ( now GTboard) we implemented the FIRST EVER Gambia Hotel Classification System up to date never been done .
He worked tirelessly for the Gambia Special Olympics and did alot of philanthropic work to benefit the less privileged and underserved in our Community.
He is survived by his Family he adopted Mr. Eboulie Colley always by his side forever loyal & kind and his son Mohammed who he ensured had a quality education in one of the top private school in the Gambia
I would like to acknowledge the Gambian Family who since his passing are working together to give him a befitting burial in the Gambia on June 23rd 2022 at the St.Anthony's Church in Kololi as this was his final wish and have been there for him during his stay in and out of the Gambia over 35 years . Thank you Rima Hobeika and Charbel, Mr. Buna Njie, Miranda Nehme the Blell Family, the Marouns Family, Aziz Family and countless others who loved and cherished him.
